Correction: Camera Club Day
At last Friday’s meeting someone made an announcement that registration was full for camera club day. I spoke to the organizer, Jim Swallow over the weekend and he wants everyone to know that the Saturday workshop is full but the actual camera club day on Sunday still has plenty of spaces available and he encourages everyone to sign up. Jim also asked me to give a brief presentation on macro photography inside the building on Sunday. Hope to see members there on Sunday!

Upcoming Meetings
Saturday March 12th, 10:00 a.m at TRG studio the next installment of the Saturday Video Series will be shown. A video on Photographer / Artist Bert Monroy will provide the inspiration.
Friday night the 18th is competition night, the topic is night photography. Make sure you bring your prints and files in early enough to get them prepped for the judging. we have been getting a large number of submissions lately and it really helps the whole process. If you are bringing digital files please try and have them alone on a thumb drive or at least in their own folder named TBCC. You can help out the organization process by naming the files with the image title preceded with the letter “G” or “A” so that it can be properly placed as either general or assigned. Examples:
A-Tampa Skyline at Night.jpg Correct
G-White Bird in a Golden Cage.jpg Correct
IMG_1324.jpg Wrong
My Dog Rover.jpg Wrong
Reminder to the Board of Directors – The regularly scheduled work night is this Thursday night, March 10th at TRG studio, 6:00 p.m.

Discounted Admission To Sandy Puc’ Workshop for TBCC Members – March 7
Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Sandy Puc’ and I am a photographer with a studio in Littleton, Colorado. Currently, I am embarking on my fourth national photography tour, The Power of Passion Tour (http://powerofpassion.sandypuctours.com), and I would like to personally extend the invitation to you and your club members when I visit the Tampa Bay vicinity!
I fell in love with photography from the very first image I captured and, as a result, I’ve spent my entire adult life learning the craft. I started out as a member of a local photography club and I cherish the experience I gained from that involvement. Today, I’ve been honored to work with some of the most exceptional leaders in the industry and have been able to truly follow my dreams.
The tour will be coming to Tampa on March 7, 2011 and will take place at the Carrollwood Cultural Center at 5 p.m. Jerry Ghionis, a worldwide leader in wedding photography, will be my special guest. Ghionis and I will share our passion and knowledge for our trade ranging from technical tips such as lighting and posing techniques, to how to effectively market any photography business!
I want to invite all of your members who have a passion for photography and an eagerness to learn about this amazing industry! Because I know the value of having local clubs that support those who want to learn and explore the world of photography, I’d also like to offer you and your members a discount to attend my event! You can order your tickets online at http://powerofpassion.sandypuctours.com and make sure to use the code CLU11 in order to receive a $50 ticket per person- that’s a total savings of $49 per person!
I hope to see you this weekend!

February Competition Info
While Doris is traveling I have taken over the job of updating the scores from the last competition. I’m sorry I had a shoot for a client that night, it looks like we had a lot of nice entries. There are however two entries that have not been recorded yet because the entrant did not put their name on their entry form. Whoever entered 2 images titled “Monago Beach” and “Nap” please let me know who you are so that I can record your scores for those entries.
The current statistics with the exception of the 2 mystery scores can be viewed by clicking on the link on our Competition Results page. – Jim
Winner of the President’s Challenge
Congratulations to Victoria Drum for her winning entry in the President’s Challenge photo competition at the last meeting. The challenge was to produce a portrait of a character from a Beatles song. Victoria gave us an excellent visual interpretation of the lyrics from Eleanor Rigby:
“Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?”
