Club News for March 2012

Updated scores from the February competition have been posted. The March competition assigned category is Backlight With Detail. In it’s most basic form this can be imagined as a scene in which the main subject would normally appear as a silhouette in a photograph due to strong light coming from behind but instead detail shows in the subject because the photographer has taken steps to introduce fill lighting.

IMPORTANT SCHEDULING NOTICE: The March competition will be held on the 4th Friday of the month instead of the normal 3rd Friday so that we can accommodate a guest speaker who can’t appear on the 4th Friday.
Friday, March 16: Guest Speaker – Andy from Unknown Photographer
Friday, March 23: Competition Night – Backlight With Detail

The Saturday video series will resume on March 10th featuring Scott Kelby’s “Crush the Composition”

February Update

A reminder to all that there will be no Saturday video series this month. The video series will resume in March on the 2nd Saturday as usual.

The scoresheet with the 2012 competition standings is available for viewing now with the January scores. Remember you must have your dues paid to enter. The new scoresheet does reflect your dues status. If you wish to bring your dues to the upcoming meeting please print out this form and bring it with you.

Our next meeting on February 17th is competition night. The assigned category is “Food”. FYI: drinks count as food.

If you want to learn about or become more proficient with layers and masking then remember that Robert and Jim will be leading an SDL workshop on the subject on February 25th at tRG studio. Details can be found on the SDL website.
